Celtic keeper trial

Given, who was capped times for Ireland in a hugely successful career, believes that if Celtic go on to win back the Scottish Premiership this season then Hart will be a vital factor in that success.

Last season under previous manager Neil Lennon, Celtic struggled badly in the goalkeeping department. Our back up pair of Scott Bain and Conor Hazard also failed to grab their chance between the sticks.

So although many Celtic fans, including myself, had doubts when we signed the former England international, Hart has proved a shrewd signing with his experience and stature in the game proving crucial in a dressing room full of new and inexperienced players at the start of the Ange Postecoglou era. Given knows Hart well from their time together at Manchester City back in the late noughties. After years of finding it hard to nail down the number one spot at clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley, Hart will be relishing being the main man once more.

After the horrors of last year in regards to our goalkeeping situation, Joe has been the breath of fresh air this season. And this is even more remarkable when you consider the shaky start we had to the campaign. As this defence grows in confidence the comparative numbers are just going to look better and better. What a contrast to the club we share a city with.

Everyone was talking about the former not that long ago, but no-one discusses the latter. Every mistake with our defence is ruthlessly highlighted, and I do mean ruthlessly.

Individual players are targeted and mocked and put under even greater scrutiny. One of the reasons is that they just hate to give us praise. The other is much simpler. It would force an examination of the defending at Ibrox. The defence over there is dreadful, alternating between embarrassing and disastrous. Francis Cairney, 86, is said to have committed the crimes against the two boys between July and December Cairney is also charged with indecently assaulting another teenage boy at a hotel room in Aviemore.

He is further accused of assaulting the boy in a car in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, on various occasions between August 1, and June 30, Prosecutors claim one of the boys, when aged between 15 and 16, was assaulted within a car in Paisley, Renfrewshire.

And this boy was also allegedly assaulted in the dressing rooms at Barrowfield between July 1 and June 30 Cairney is further charged with repeatedly punching and slapping the same boy to his head and body at Barrowfield. It is also alleged that Cairney assaulted the other boy when he was aged between 15 and 18 within the Barrowfield dressing rooms. The offence is alleged to have taken place as well at Celtic Park between February 1, and December 31, It is claimed Cairney repeatedly hugged him, repeatedly placed his hands underneath his clothing and repeatedly touched his back, stomach, thigh, groin, buttocks and penis.

Cairney, who had his attendance excused at a pre-trial hearing this week, continues to plead not guilty to the charges. We may then apply our discretion under the user terms to amend or delete comments.
